History
Since 1975, Danny Smith has been in private practice of disability and injury law in Spartanburg and has successfully handled thousands of Social Security disability and workers’ compensation claims. For the past 17 years, Patrick Smith has been a litigator in Upstate South Carolina, and currently emphasizes disability law, personal injury, complex litigation, and construction litigation. In 2017, the two formed Smith Legal Group, P.C., where they continue to put their insight and experience to work for their clients by handling each case with commitment and care.

Danny R. Smith
Danny Smith has spent the last four decades fighting for injured and disabled people in Upstate South Carolina and has successfully handled thousands of social security disability and workers’ compensation claims. His practice emphasis also includes serious injury claims from auto accidents.
A 1974 graduate of the University of South Carolina Law School, Danny is admitted to the South Carolina Bar, U.S. District Court, Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He has served in leadership positions in the South Carolina Association of Justice and the Injured Workers’ Advocates. He is a past President of the Spartanburg County Bar Association, a member of the South Carolina Association of Justice, and Injured Workers’ Advocates. He has also been a charter member of The National Association of Social Security Claimants Representatives since 1979.
Danny is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been honored in the past by his peers by selection for Super Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America. He was recognized in the 2020 edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the category of Workers’ Compensation Law – Claimants. He was previously included in the Best Lawyers 2019 Workers’ Compensation Law – Claimants list. He was also named Best Lawyers 2018 Workers’ Compensation Law – Claimants “Lawyer of the Year” in the Greenville/Spartanburg area.
Throughout his career, Danny has been active in the community, serving on the Spartanburg County Council and the Board of Spartanburg Regional Health Services District, where he was Chairman from 1997 through the end of his term.

R. Patrick Smith
Patrick Smith has been in private practice in the Greenville/Spartanburg area since 2000, emphasizing disability law, personal injury, complex litigation, and construction litigation.
He represents injured people, as well as businesses in legal disputes; prosecutes and defends mechanic’s liens, bond claims, contract claims, and warranty claims; and represents owners, design professionals, subcontractors, general contractors, and material suppliers before state and federal courts and arbitration panels.
A 2000 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, Patrick is admitted to the South Carolina Bar, U.S. District Court, and Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the South Carolina Association for Justice and is a contributing author of the South Carolina Construction Law Desk Book.
